Accredited NY State CLE Provider

We are proud to be recognized by the New York CLE Board as an Accredited CLE Provider.

Members now have access to our growing library of continuing legal education (CLE) seminars—available on-demand, with supporting materials for each program.

From our inception 50 years ago, providing high-quality, practical, immediately useful and engaging training programs to our members and other interested criminal advocates has been one of our primary core missions.

Our founder, Judge Robert Louis Cohen (Ret.) identified ‘training’ as one of our key organizational goals.

This professional education is offered to strengthen advocacy skills both in and out of the courtroom; to support the reform and improvement of criminal law and procedure; and to address conditions affecting our clients and their families in the court system and correctional facilities.

In the 25 years since Mandatory Continuing Legal Education was instituted in New York, NYCBA has presented dozens of in-person, virtual and hybrid training sessions on topics relating to state and federal criminal practice, advocacy skills, evidence, professional ethics, law reform efforts, and conditions in court and correctional facilities.

NYCBA has partnered with assigned counsel offices, institutional defenders and private organizations to make that vital training available. More recently, NYCBA has offered CLE Board approved sessions; and on August 27, 2025, the New York State CLE Board certified NYCBA as an Accredited Provider of continuing legal education.
