Author of Dead Man Walking: An Eyewitness Account of the Death Penalty in the United States, Sister Helen Prejean continues her crusade against the death penalty with her latest book, The Death of Innocents: An Eyewitness Account of Wrongful Executions. For over 20 years, she has traveled around the world campaigning against the death penalty. She serves as chair of The Moratorium Campaign in the U.S. and works with Amnesty International and other organizations to garner support. In December 2001, she was among the delegates to present three and a half million moratorium signatures to Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations.

Mr. Kendall has represented individuals facing the death penalty since 1980. He works exclusively on the community services team that devotes all of its attention to pro bono matters. He was a Staff Attorney for the ACLU in Atlanta, Georgia and later worked for the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc., in New York before joining Holland & Knight.

Mr. Kendall will present a national overview on the death penalty and Sister Helen will discuss The Moratorium Campaign. Following her presentation, there will be a reception and book signing.
The Moratorium Campaign is partially funded by the sale of books. Dead Man Walking can be purchased for a minimum donation of $15.00; the minimum donation for purchase of Death of Innocents is $25.00. Both books can be purchased for $30.00. (Cash or checks are accepted.) There will be a petition from The Moratorium Campaign that attendees can sign.
