About Us

Welcome to the new and updated Web Site sponsored by the New York Criminal Bar Association (NYCBA). The NYCBA is a non-profit association organized to protect and preserve the rights of individuals accused of crimes and to serve as a unifying force for criminal defense lawyers in the Greater New York City metropolitan area.

This site is designed primarily as a private online service for members of the New York Criminal Bar Association. It provides our members with access to an extraordinary collection of comprehensive resources for practicing criminal defense attorneys in the New York City metropolitan area.

For example, we have collected, and we update on a regular basis, numerous invaluable telephone and fax numbers that enable our members to contact judges, police precincts, arraignment clerks, correction officers and others who typically are so difficult to locate in the "system."

Members of the New York Criminal Bar Association also have free and unlimited access to two web sites maintained by "Punch & Jurists", the acclaimed Internet resource for Federal criminal law, as follows:

1) www.ussguide.com, a comprehensive collection of legal resources relating to the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, including a search engine that enables the user to find all the recent significant cases dealing with specific Guideline provisions or by a key-word topic search, as well as cases, articles, sentencing memoranda and briefs from past, and

2) www.fedcrimlaw.com, which has a series of "search engines" for a database with more than 15,000 federal criminal cases, including the full text and detailed analyses of more than 1,000 Supreme Court cases.

Through the Punch and Jurists sites, members can also access (a) all the Second Circuit case summaries prepared by Richard Ware Levitt since 1988, plus the full text of those from 1995 to date; and (b) Punch & Jurists' famed bi-weekly criminal law newsletter, which features timely summaries of the latest and most significant new cases in federal criminal law (available only in PDF format by email).

So, please join by printing out the membership application form and sending it with your dues payment of $150 to our Treasurer, Steven F. Pugliese Esq., 11 Broadway, Suite 615, New York, NY 10004; Tel.: (212) 514-5390; Email:sfpugliese@aol.com.
